Our mission

The ICFF Youth Festival inspires the next generation through the power of cinema. Our mission is to use film as a tool for learning, cultural discovery, and creative expression. By connecting students with stories from around the world, the festival promotes critical thinking, empathy, and an appreciation for diversity — while introducing youth to future career paths in the film and creative industries.

About the Festival

Now in its 14th edition, the ICFF Youth Festival is Canada’s leading educational film program dedicated to students aged 8 to 18. Presented every spring across major Cineplex theatres, the festival welcomes thousands of students from public, Catholic, and private schools across Ontario. Each screening is carefully curated to engage youth in meaningful conversations about culture, identity, and global citizenship. All films are accompanied by educational packages created by Ontario Certified Teachers, featuring pre- and post-screening classroom activities aligned with the Ontario curriculum in subjects such as social studies, language learning, and media literacy. Beyond the screenings, students participate in Q&As with filmmakers and actors, interactive workshops, and career-focused panels that explore the creative industries. By combining entertainment and education, ICFF Youth empowers students to see cinema not just as a story to watch — but as a medium to think, create, and connect.
