The ICFF is thrilled to present the 11th edition of the ICFF Youth program. This year’s festival editions will offer two unique film programs that touch upon important expectations in the Ontario Curriculum, and will feature a digital approach in bringing cinema back to the classroom. In addition to the two online film programs, ICFF Youth will return to the cinema with for special in-person screening open to all Ontario school boards in honour of Black History Month on February 28th, 2023 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Toronto.
Indigenous Film Series
ICFF Youth will present a selection of Indigenous-made films by directors from diverse Nations across Canada reflecting Indigenous culture, while also having a strong emphasis on Social Studies and Language Studies. This program highlights the importance of awareness of Indigenous Cultures and the ways in which their values are expressed, whether it be through traditions, art, music, clothing, beliefs and ways of living. The ICFF Youth: Indigenous Film Series will feature 5 films accompanied by educational packages and engaging content for students prior to the screening of the films from respected members of Indigenous communities. Students will hear from influential writers, artists and leaders of these communities who directly coincide with the representation of the Indigenous culture within the films.
INTERNATIONAL FILM SERIES
ICFF Youth is excited to offer a curated selection of 7 films that highlight and celebrate International culture and languages for an engaging online program. The series includes films that represent a variety of languages including: French, Italian, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Spanish and Mandarin and are each accompanied by an educational package to support teachers with their lesson planning. Through this program students will gain exposure to a variety of cultures and languages, giving them the opportunity to develop their knowledge of different languages and cultures while enjoying the best of contemporary International Cinema.
