PLOT : In this seven-part anthology film, Johnnie To directs alongside six fellow, veteran Hong Kong filmmakers — each one capturing a different period in the citys history. Spanning from the 1950s to present day, each director presents a highly personal story in celebration of their native city. The anthology begins with Sammo HungExercise, a reflection of the directors childhood training in martial arts, and concludes with Tsui Harks dark comedy Conversation in Depth. As Hong Kong faces difficult times, this omnibus makes its Canadian premiere at the LaVazza Drive-In Film Festival — presenting the filmmakers’ memories and visions of the citys future. 

DIRECTORS. brings together seven iconic filmmakers (Ann Hui, Sammo Kam-Bo Hung, Ringo Lam, Patrick Tam, Jonnie To, Hark Tsui and Woo-Ping Yuen) to tell a decades-spanning narrative about their native city. Originally conceived by Jonnie To as an anthology of short films, each filmmaker presents a fictional story inspired by their childhood memories — showcasing an ever-changing Hong Kong.
