PLOT : The incredible story of the greatest cycling race in history, the 1989 Tour De France, and how American Greg LeMond faced down betrayal, childhood sexual abuse and death completing one of the most inspiring comebacks in history. The Last Rider premiered at the 2022 Telluride Film Festival. The film is presented by MRC. The director said, “The Last Rider is a celebration not just of athletic talent but of the power of love to enable us to realize our potential, and sometimes even to achieve that which the world thinks is impossible.”

Alex Holmes. is a multi-award-winning director, writer and producer. Most recently he has directed on The Rig for Amazon. Prior to this Alex produced and directed Maiden, a feature documentary that charts the inspirational story of Tracy Edwards, skipper of the first all-female sailing crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989. The documentary earned Alex a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Director as well as a DGA Award nom for Outstanding Achievement in Documentary and the film won the National Board of Review award for Best Documentary. Alex is currently developing a narrative version of the film with Lucky Chap for Warners/HBO Max.
