ROADSHOW MILANO-CORTINA 2026

Toronto proudly welcomes a stop on the international Roadshow promoting Milano Cortina 2026 — an important event aimed at illustrating  to the Canadian public the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games hosted by Italy in February/March 2026.
This special event is presented by Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, the organising Committee of the Games, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Ministry of Sport and Youth, the Lombardy and Veneto Regions, the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, and the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, with the support of ENIT – the Italian National Tourist Board and ICFF. The evening will feature a lively presentation with videos, followed by the screening of the documentary La Valanga Azzurra.
- Admission to the Roadshow and film screening is free of charge. A $25 ticket grants access to the festival’s curated food and beverage experiences.-

PLOT : La Valanga Azzurra explores the incredible history of the Italian national Alpine ski team of the 1970s, famously known as La Valanga Azzura or the Blue Avalanche. The team became an unstoppable force in the sport, led by legendary champions like Gustav Thöni and Piero Gros. The film delves into the intense rivalries, triumphs, and sacrifices that forged their invincibility. Through never-before-heard testimonies from the athletes themselves, it offers a profoundly personal and thrilling account of their journey. A celebration of resilience and camaraderie, the documentary captures the essence of an era that defined Italian skiing on the world stage, showcasing the passion, discipline, and determination that propelled them to greatness. By highlighting these athletes' personal struggles and victories, La Valanga Azzurra goes beyond sports, offering a compelling portrait of teamwork, national pride, and the pursuit of excellence that continues to inspire generations. Giovanni Veronesi. giovanni-veronesi i is a renowned Italian film director, screenwriter, and actor. Born in Prato, Italy, he began his career as a screenwriter in the 1980s, collaborating with acclaimed filmmakers such as Leonardo Pieraccioni and Francesco Nuti. Veronesi rose to prominence as a director with the Manuale d’Amore film series, a captivating exploration of love and relationships that resonated with audiences and critics alike. His diverse filmography includes Italians (2009), Moschettieri del Re: La penultima missione (2018), and Romeo è Giulietta (2024), showcasing his versatility across genres. Most recently, Veronesi directed La Valanga Azzurra (2024), a documentary retracing the extraordinary history of the Italian national Alpine ski team of the 1970s. His storytelling continues to engage audiences, offering a mix of wit, romance, and adventure.
