PLOT : Ru explores the journey of Nguyen An Tinh, a young girl who moves from Vietnam to Montreal with her family after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Through her eyes, the film follows the family’s efforts to rebuild their lives in a completely new culture — learning a new language, adapting to snowy winters, and discovering an unfamiliar world. Based on Kim Thúy’s Governor General’s Award–winning novel and directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud, Ru explores themes of identity, belonging, and resilience, capturing the balance between nostalgia for the past and hope for the future.
