Sophie Brooks. is a London-born, Brooklyn-based writer and director celebrated for her sharp, heartfelt storytelling. She made her feature debut with The Boy Downstairs (2017), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was later acquired by FilmRise and HBO. Before that, her short films earned early recognition: Malcolm (2012) won second place at NYU’s New Visions and Voices Festival, and Maple Leaves (2013) premiered at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival in 2014. Brooks’ sophomore feature, Oh, Hi!, focuses on the unfortunate complications and confusion of modern dating. Brooks’ work highlights intimate, relatable stories infused with a quirky edge.
