PLOT : Tormented by the tragic loss of his child, Salvo, a Sicilian fisherman, leaves his hometown and finds work in Calabria producing high-quality charcoal, trying to escape the weight of grief and guilt. When news of his father’s illness brings him back to his seaside village in Sicily, he plans to sell the family home and use the money to pursue shared custody of his daughter. But his plans are disrupted when he discovers Binta, an immigrant caregiver, living there with her young son, Moussa. As Salvo restores his father’s fishing boat with Moussa’s unexpected help, new bonds begin to form, forcing him to confront his past and consider whether healing may finally be possible.
Will Geiger. An American writer and director whose work spans independent drama, fantasy, and family films. Fluent in Italian, he began with short films before adapting one into his debut feature, Ocean Tribe (1997), a coming-of-age road drama. He later wrote and directed Elvis and Annabelle (2007) and the family adventure Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove (2010). Most recently, he wrote and directed Spiaggia di vetro (2025), a Sicilian drama about grief, guilt, and human connection.
