Five Seconds

Cinque secondi
Directed by: Paolo Virzì

While trying to hide from life, he found a reason to live.

PLOT : Cinque secondi follows a former lawyer named Adriano Sereni played by Valerio Mastandrea  who has withdrawn from the world and now lives in the stables of a crumbling villa. Haunted by a tragic moment from his past that shattered his life, he survives through a rigid routine of isolation, however his peace is interrupted by a group of young idealists who take over the villa in an attempt to restore its ancient vineyards. Adriano slowly adapts to this new group, and forms connections with them. As he opens himself up, Adriano must face the five second moment from his past and decide whether he will remain trapped by it or move forward.

Paolo Virzì. Paolo Virzì is a celebrated Italian director and screenwriter with a signature style blending sharp social satire with emotional humanity. His early career was defined by classics like Ferie d’agosto (1996) and Ovosodo (1997). Over the decades, Virzì’s lens sharpened, producing the sweeping family drama La prima cosa bella (2010) and the acclaimed noir Il capitale umano (2013), that won seven David di Donatello awards. His English language debut, The Leisure Seeker (2017), brought his talent to global audiences. His latest work Cinque secondi explores themes of isolation and redemption. Today, Virzì continues to capture the delicate and chaotic dance between tragedy and hope in Italian culture.
