Biography


PLOT : Verona, September 5, 1945. Arnoldo Mondadori, criticized by his employees for his lavishness, tells the story of his life. The son of a traveling shoemaker and illiterate, as a child he had to leave school, because of severe family straits, to help his father at work. At the age of seventeen he managed to get hired in a printing shop. Arnoldo decided to stay in the industry and realize in publishing his ambitions for emancipation. With the help of a benefactor, his small business passed into the hands of Mondadori. Arnoldo began to devote himself to the publishing business proper, producing for schools’ subsidiaries, grammars and reading books. With few resources Mondadori tried to revive the company after the war by having the intuition to find agreements with Walt Disney and Henry Luce, owner of Life. In 1959 Arnoldo received an honorary degree from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Pavia. To meet the needs of the mass audience, Mondadori in 1965 together with his son designed a series of paperback books, the Oscar Mondadori, sold at newsstands weekly.

Francesco Miccichè. is an Italian director and screenwriter. He has directed award-winning movies, television series, miniseries, short films and documentaries. Loro chi? starring Edoardo Leo and Marco Giallini is one of his works. The movie is co-produced by Picomedia and Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia. He participated in the 70th Venice Film Festival with the documentary Lino Miccichè, mio padre - Una visione del mondo (“Lino Miccichè, My Father. A
Vision of the World”), which recounts the life of his father, a well-known critic, historian and cultural organizer. The documentary was awarded a Special Mention at the 2014 Silver Ribbons.
He has directed several television series. In 2018, Ricchi di fantasia with Sergio Castellitto and Sabrina Ferilli was released, while in 2019 Compromessi sposi with Vincenzo Salemme and Diego Abatantuono was released
