PLOT : The docu-film aims to explore the figure of Angelo Mangiarotti within the context of 20th-century Italian design culture, with a particular focus on his attitude and sensitivity towards materials and craftsmanship. Through footage of his architectural works and interviews with his collaborators, clients, and friends, the film delves into the connections and resonances between the various disciplines in which he operated, seeking to reconstruct the depth of his thinking, his strong inclination towards innovation, and the inherent poetry of his creations.

Davide Maffei. is an Italian writer and director. Living and working in Modena Many of Maffei’s films centre around the themes of design in different industrial companies. Maffei’s first film was Villaggio Eni. A pleasant stay in the future (2013). The film follows two men who build an architectural social experiment to create a tourist spot for the oil company’s workers and their families. In 2014 Maffei directed Tellurica: Racconti dal cratere, which recounts the stories of 10 people that experienced the Emilia earthquakes in 2012. Maffei is the co-founder of Gilson Productions focused on short films and commercial productions. In 2020, he directed the documentaries Prospettiva Olivetti and Paradigma Olivetti (2020), following the history of the iconic Italian industrial company, and in 2022 he was the director of Alfabeto Mangiarotti.
