PLOT : Michele Cortese, an elementary school teacher, is about to start a new chapter after 40 years of teaching in Rome. He’s reassigned to the Cesidio Gentile Institute, known as Jurico, a small, multi-grade school in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park, with just a handful of children aged 7-10. Initially struggling with his urban inadequacy, Michele finds support in vice-principal Agnese and the spirited students, gradually adjusting to the peaceful rural life. As he grows closer to the children and settles into his new role, unforeseen challenges arise, forcing him to navigate obstacles that threaten the school’s future. Michele must confront these challenges head-on, relying on his newfound bonds to keep the school alive.
Riccardo Milani. born in Rome, Italy, is an acclaimed film director and screenwriter. He began his career as an assistant director to Mario Monicelli on Let's Hope It’s a Girl (1986). Following this, Milani worked with renowned filmmakers such as Nanni Moretti, Florestano Vancini, and Daniele Luchetti. In 1994, Milani made his directorial debut with the comedy-drama Auguri Professore. Known for his successful comedies, his notable works include Il posto dell'anima (2003), Thank You Guys (2023), and Like a Cat on a Highway (2017). Recently, he directed the comedy Un Mondo a Parte (2024), a story about elementary school teachers trying to save their school.
