Yu Irie

Yu Irie, a Japanese film director and screenwriter, was born on November 25,
1979, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and raised in Fukaya, Saitama Prefecture. Irie created two softcore sexually explicit V-Cinema videos in 2007—Cream Lemon 7 and Swimsuit Spy – SPY GIRLS—after directing a series of short films, including Obsession and Seven Drives, which were presented at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in 2003 and 2004. The latter video featured AV Idol Mihiro in an erotic comedy. At the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, the second feature he directed, 8000 Miles (SR, SR: Saitama no Rapper), took home the top honor in the Off Theatre Competition. Irie received the Directors Guild of Japan New Directors Award for it as well. The movie centers on four friends from the
suburb of Fukuya (a pun on Fukaya) who want to be rap stars.
