Cédric Klapisch

Cédric Klapisch was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, just west of Paris, in 1961. He studied cinema at the University of Paris III and the University of Paris VIII. Despite being rejected twice by the French film school Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC), he went on to complete film school at New York University, graduating in 1983. His first feature film, Riens du tout came out in 1992; a year later a TV channel hired him to make the film Le péril jeune, about  high school in the mid-70s. His wildly successful Spanish Apartment Trilogy took off with the 2002 premiere of L'Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment). In 2005, he filmed the sequel Les Poupées Russes (Russian Dolls) and in 2012, Klapisch filmed Casse-tête chinois (Chinese Puzzle), the final installation in the trilogy.
