PLOT : Next Goal Wins” tells the heartwarming and inspiring story of the underdog American Samoa soccer team. This team, coming from a nation not famous for soccer, gained worldwide attention for their infamous 31-0 loss to Australia during the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying game. Fast forward 13 years, and the team's fortunes take a turn when they enlist the help of the unconventional, down-on-his-luck Dutch-American coach, Thomas Rongen. Determined to instill discipline and drive into the team, Rongen leads them on a transformative journey as they strive to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Together, they work to defy the odds, transforming from perpetual underdogs to triumphant winners.
