Act II – Opera
9:15pm

What happens when opera meets Fellini? The fashion pops, the glamour sings and the emotion hits in a whole new way. Mingled with scenes from Roman Holiday, La Dolce Vita and more, international soprano Lucia Cesaroni, mezzo-soprano and CBC host Julie Nesrallah and brilliant baritone Jorell Williams will open your eyes and ears with live renditions of La bohème, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Carmen and some of Broadway’s classics, too! Let the beauty, the elegance and the drama transport you through cinematic history…Benvenuti!

Act III – VIP Backstage Bash

…And opera is just the beginning. After the aperitivi and the music, come backstage and mingle at our VIP Backstage Bash at the vibey Spirit of York bar. We’re smashing banking, energy, hospitality, tech and artists all together to make new connections in the evening’s third (and best) act. Start with opera, finish with new friends, new deals–a new perspective!

Soprano

Lucia Cesaroni

Italian-Canadian soprano Lucia Cesaroni commands the stage as some of opera's most coveted heroines. In the 2023 season, she debuted on The Metropolitan Opera roster in New York and has Verdi's La Traviata, Puccini's La bohéme, and Mozart's leading ladies through Europe and North America. Recent highlights include debuts at the Spoleto Festival in Umbria, her Romanian debut, concerts with L’Orchestra Nazionale della RAI in Torino and with Andrea Bocelli at New York’s Columbus Citizen’s Foundation. Ms. Cesaroni also founded Cesaroni Consulting, offering workshops and coaching to Sun Life Financial, Salesforce, Google, Bell Media and Loblaw (George Weston Group) and Masters Insurance, among others.

Mezzo-Soprano

Julie Nesrallah

The dazzling Julie Nesrallah performs for leading opera companies, symphonies, festivals and chamber music ensembles around the world. Miss Nesrallah is the national host of Tempo on CBC Music and is the executive producer and star of Carmen on Tap, which performs Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen as dinner theatre.

Baritone

Jorell Williams

Jorell Williams, praised for his ``solid vocal core and easy, natural production`` (Opera News) and ``deliciously resonant baritone voice`` (Broadway World), has been hailed as ``a rock-solid singer with a keen understanding of his own expressive depths`` (The Washington Post). A top prize winner in competitions like the Kurt Weill Foundation, The Gerda Lissner Foundation, and The American Traditions Competition, his performances span major stages, including Canadian Opera Company, Lincoln Center Theater, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Vancouver Opera. Hafez Nazeri’s Untold: Rumi Symphony Project, and ``My Brother's Keeper`` with NYFOS Records, to be released in May of 2025.

Pianist

Trevor Chartrand

Dr. Trevor Chartrand is a collaborative pianist, based in Toronto, who works primarily with students at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music. While maintaining a private studio and active recital career, he also has been head coach/repetiteur at many opera companies across the country including the Canadian Opera Company. Trevor holds a doctorate from the University of Michigan in Collaborative Piano.
