Semih Kaplanoglu

Semih Kaplanoglu is a Turkish producer, screenwriter and director. He began his career in film as an assistant cameraman. His debut feature film was in 2001 titled Herkes Kendi Evinde. The film went on to win multiple awards. Kaplanoglu won Best Director for the film at the Singapore International Film Festival. Shortly after he established his own film production company Kaplan Film. His second feature film Melegin Düsüsü(2004)again garnered the director multiple nominations at prestigious film festivals and won Best Film in the National Competition at the Ankara International Film Festival. Kaplanoglu has also written many articles about film and the industry which have been translated into dozens of languages. His most recent film Baglilik Hasan(2021) has received critical acclaim and was presented at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
