PLOT : In this seven-part anthology film, Johnnie To directs alongside six fellow, veteran Hong Kong filmmakers — each one capturing a different period in the city’s history. Spanning from the 1950s to present day, each director presents a highly personal story in celebration of their native city. The anthology begins with Sammo Hung’s Exercise, a reflection of the director’s childhood training in martial arts, and concludes with Tsui Hark’s dark comedy Conversation in Depth. As Hong Kong faces difficult times, this omnibus makes its Canadian premiere at the LaVazza Drive-In Film Festival — presenting the filmmakers’ memories and visions of the city’s future.
