PLOT : Italy-based violin maker (luthier) Gaspar Borchardt has one passion: crafting the most beautiful sounding violin in the world. Hoping to make a violin as prestigious as a Stradivarius, Borchardt has his sights set on the perfect wood found in only one location: a remote forest in the Balkans. Nestled between Bosnia and Serbia lies a forest of maple trees but Borchardt’s journey to procure the wood will not be an easy one. Tied up in the politics and conflicts of the area, he will have to navigate so much more than just the winding, remote roads and forests of rural Bosnia. Recognizing that the trees are worth their weight in gold, Borchardt is determined despite the many obstacles he encounters on the way. Perfect for classical music lovers and adventure seekers this high-stakes treasure hunt is as exciting as it is inspiring!

Hans Lukas Hansen. is a Norwegian filmmaker and producer at Norsk Fjernsyn, a production company he founded in 2013. He began his studies at Volda College in Norway specializing in animation and documentary filmmaking. Since the start of his career, Hans has won three Gullruten Awards (“the Norwegian Emmy”),making his directorial debut with Med flagget på brystet (With the Flag on His Chest, English title) in 2006. The Quest for Tonewood debuted at the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt, in 2021.

PLOT : Gaspar Borchardt, luthier italien, n'a qu'une passion : fabriquer le violon qui a le son le plus beau du monde. Dans l'espoir de fabriquer un violon aussi prestigieux qu'un Stradivarius, M. Borchardt a jeté son dévolu sur le bois parfait qui ne se trouve qu'à un seul endroit : une forêt isolée des Balkans. Nichée entre la Bosnie et la Serbie se trouve une forêt d'érables, mais le voyage de Borchardt pour se procurer le bois ne sera pas facile. Il devra affronter bien plus que les routes sinueuses et isolées et les forêts de la Bosnie rurale, car il est impliqué dans la politique et les conflits de la région. Il reconnaît que les arbres valent leur pesant d'or, Borchardt reste déterminé malgré les nombreux obstacles qu'il rencontre sur son chemin. Idéale pour les amateurs de musique classique et les chercheurs d'aventure, cette chasse au trésor à fort enjeu est aussi passionnante qu'inspirante!

Hans Lukas Hansen. est un cinéaste norvégien et producteur à Norsk Fjernsyn, une société de production qu'il a fondée en 2013. Il a débuté ses études au Volda College en Norvège où il s'est spécialisé dans le cinéma d'animation et le documentaire. Depuis le début de sa carrière, Hans a remporté trois Gullruten Awards (les Emmys Awards norvégien), faisant ses débuts de réalisateur avec Med flagget på brystet (With the Flag on His Chest, titre anglais) en 2006. The Quest for Tonewood a fait ses débuts au festival du film d'El Gouna, en Égypte, en 2021.
