PLOT : La Rosa dell’Istria depicts the drama of Istrian and Dalmatian exiles after the post-war Armistice. Eighteen-year-old Maddalena, who dreams of becoming a painter, lives in Kanfanaro, Istria. Her dreams are shattered when World War II begins. Yugoslav partisans arrive, forcing Maddalena and her family to flee their home. The film captures their struggle and displacement during these turbulent times, highlighting themes of resilience, loss, and the search for identity amid chaos. Maddalena’s journey is both heart-wrenching and inspiring.
