PLOT : Set in the 1980s against the backdrop of Brasília, the capital city of Brazil, this romantic comedy follows the story of college student Monica and highschool student Eduardo as they navigate love and loss. Inspired by the song of the same name by Brazilian band Legião Urbana, Monica e Eduardo is a heartwarming story of how even our greatest differences can bring us together. Despite a large age gap and vastly different interests, protagonists Monica and Eduardo cannot ignore the intense chemistry that exists between them; do they give up on a once in a lifetime love or do they fight for what they want?
René Sampaio. graduated from the University of Brasília with a degree in Journalism and Advertising. His 2000 short film Sinistro (Sinister) won several awards at both the Brasília Film Festival and Gramado Film Festival. A lifelong love of Brazilian band Legião Urbana has influenced and inspired Sampaio to write and direct two separate films based on songs by the same name, the first being Faroeste Caboclo (Brazilian Western). This film brought international attention to Sampaio after it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013. He is also an Emmy nominated director for his work on the TV show Impuros.
