PLOT : Après avoir survécu à la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le colonel Richard Cantwell, un héros américain de guerre, commence son voyage dans une nouvelle ère d'après-guerre. Sur le plan intérieur, il est tourmenté par les horreurs dont il a été témoin et les amis qu'il a perdus. Après avoir été informé récemment d'une maladie en phase terminale, le colonel se rend à Venise pour passer un week-end de solitude. Alors qu'il traverse la ville en voiture avec son chauffeur militaire, visitant tous les lieux qui hantent son esprit, Cantwell fait une rencontre fortuite avec une "femme unique". Alors que ses plans s'effilochent, son manque de confiance dans la possibilité de recommencer sa vie s'accentue. Basé sur le roman de 1950 d'Ernest Hemingway, c'est une histoire d'amour, de guerre et d'espoir dans laquelle Cantwell découvre que la vie a des moments fugaces et que tout dépend de vous pour tirer le meilleur parti du temps qui vous reste.

Across the River and Into the Trees. est une réalisatrice, scénariste et productrice espagnole. Ortiz est allée à l'Université autonome de Barcelone et a obtenu une maîtrise en écriture pour le cinéma et la télévision. Ortiz a commencé à produire un certain nombre de courts métrages jusqu'à son premier film la Chrysalis (2011). Elle a remporté le prix Pilar Miró du meilleur nouveau réalisateur pour Chrysalis et a également été nommée pour 3 trophées aux Prix Goya 2012, toujours pour le meilleur nouveau réalisateur. Après ces incroyables réussites, Ortiz a ensuite remporté le FEADORA International Prize for Women’s Criticism. En 2015, son film La Novia (La Mariée) a remporté les prix de la meilleure réalisation et du meilleur film dramatique lors de la troisième édition de Premios Feroz Awards. Elle est membre de l'Assemblée des femmes cinéastes d'Espagne et est la cofondatrice et vice-présidente du Réseau européen des femmes de l'audiovisuel.

PLOT : After surviving World War II, American war-hero Colonel Richard Cantwell begins his journey in a new post-war era. Internally, he is plagued by the horrors he witnessed and the friends he lost. After being recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, the colonel makes his way to Venice to have a quiet weekend of solitude. While driving through the city with his military driver, visiting all the places that haunt his mind, Cantwell has a chance encounter with a 'one of kind woman'. As his plans unravel, so does his lack of belief in the chance to begin again. Based on the 1950 novel by Ernest Hemingway, this is a story about love, war, and hope in which Cantwell discovers that life has fleeting moments and it is up to you to make the most of the time you have left.

Paula Ortiz. is a Spanish director, writer, and producer. Ortiz went to the Autonomous University of Barcelona and gained a master’s degree in writing for cinema and TV. Ortiz began to produce a number of short films until her debut film the Chrysalis (2011). She won the Pilar Miró Prize for Best New Director for Chrysalis and was also nominated for 3 awards at the 2012 Goya Prizes, again for Best New Director. Following these incredible achievements, Ortiz went on to win the FEADORA International Prize for Women’s Criticism. In 2015, her film La Novia (The Bride) won Best Director and Best Drama at the 3rd edition of the Premios Feroz Awards. She is a member of the Assembly of Women Film-makers of Spain and is the co-founder and vice-president of the European Women Audiovisual Network.
