
Ömer Faruk Sorak
Ömer graduated from the Faculty of Communication at Ankara University. He was born in Ankara on April 27th, 1964. In TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corp.), he began his professional career as an assistant cameraman from 1987 to 1990 and as a cameraman from 1990 to 1995. He has served as DOP and Director since 1995. In Böcek Yapim, the production company he founded in February 1998, he has directed numerous commercials, music videos, TV shows, documentaries, and feature films. His first feature film to reach 3 million local admissions was Vizontele (2001), which he co-directed with Yilmaz Erdogan. It marked a new era in Turkish filmmaking. Another record was set with his second movie, the sci- fi comedy G.O.R.A. (2004), which was the first Turkish movie to achieve 4 million local admissions.
